June 6 – June 13, 2012

This past weekend, I was able to experience some of the awesome events and activities that Southwest Michigan has to offer: Friday we went to downtown St. Joseph to see the Pirates, the Sea Turtles, Sea Horses and Pelicans!  How wonderful these all were.  The girls were especially excited to get onto the Pirate Ship!  We took a lot of pictures with pirates!

Saturday, we went to the Regatta Craft Fair and the first Farmers Market in St. Joseph.  It was great to see all of the fabulous fresh produce, baked goods and meats that were offered.  Also, the craft fair had something for everyone, including lovely hair accessories for my little ones.

On Sunday, we took a road-trip up to South Haven and went to the beach, as well as had lunch outside.  It was such a lovely day.  The beach was too windy and cool for a swim, but, we were able to watch the Kite Surfers take on those Lake Michigan waves!  The girls also had a lot of fun playing on the equipment and showing us their new-found, flying off of the swing skills.  Yes, I was thrilled…

On Monday, we went to the Silver Beach Carousel and had a fun couple of rides.  Then, off to the Curious Kids Discovery Zone to explore the brand new exhibit, “Run! Jump! Fly! Adventures in Action.” What a great addition to the museum! The girls were happily running, jumping, dancing and, yes, surfing (both water and ski!).  It was great.  Then, for the first time, they climbed to the top of the Light House Exhibit… they have previously been too nervous to go up that high, but, after “Run! Jump! Fly!” they could do it. Over and over again.  HaHa. After that, we visited the beach, again, and played in the sand, and took some fun pictures.  I’ll be sure to pick one and use it as my new blog photo!

We also made a visit to Schu’s, the girls’ favorite place for lunch. They really love the mini-corndogs.  These aren’t the healthiest choice, but, they really love them.  Do you have any restaurants that your kids love to visit?  Let me know!

If you have any suggestions to make this blog easier to use, please send me an email, or leave a note below.  I appreciate any feedback.  Also, I am always looking for more family friendly events to add. Thank you!

Saturday morning at the Market now includes jams, honey, hearth-baked breads and fine pastries, perennials, cut flowers, organic vegetables and so much more!

Take the time to chat with vendors who will share recipes, planting recommendations and cooking tips. Also, plan to visit with several friends since the number of people attending this weekly event has continued to grow over the last few years. It's a Saturday tradition!
