I wanted to mention, yesterday, my daughters and I spent a lovely afternoon in Saugatuck, MI. My parents are vacationing there, and invited us to ride on The Star of Saugatuck with them. It was a really wonderful afternoon. The boat took us up the Kalamazoo River into Lake Kalamazoo, and then back again, all the way to Lake Michigan. It was very relaxing. After the boat-ride (which thrilled my daughters) we had lunch at The Mermaid, outside, overlooking the harbor. After some time at the park and visiting some of the shops, we had icecream to top off the afternoon. What a great time!
We have a tee-ball game on the calendar, and plan to
attend the Weko Beach Wine Fest. We may also head down to Three Oaks for their
Flag Festival. What are your plans for the
weekend?
I’m still keeping my eyes open for great kid-friendly
restaurants. Do you have any restaurants
that your kids love to visit? Let me
know!
If you have any suggestions to make this blog easier to
use, please send me an email, or leave a note below. I appreciate any feedback.
Also, I am always looking for more family friendly events
to add. Thank you!

“Adam Sandler plays Skeeter Bronson, a hotel handyman who agrees to babysit his newly divorced sister Wendy's (Courteney Cox) two kids -- with the help of Wendy's friend Jill (Kerri Russell) -- while she goes to an out-of-state job interview. While he's taking care of his niece and nephew, Skeeter begins a nightly tradition of telling bedtime stories the children contribute to, only to realize the next day that even outlandish aspects of the story are coming true. Seizing the opportunity, Skeeter uses the magical tales to get a shot at running the hotel his father once owned -- if he can prove himself worthier than the hotel's brown-nosing manager, Kendall (Guy Pearce).”

Movie Matinee 2:00 pm – “Ella Enchanted”
PG*
In this version of the
Cinderella story, well-meaning but careless fairy Lucinda (Vivica A. Fox) tries
to give a gift to newborn Ella (Anne Hathaway)
by casting a spell that renders her forever obedient. But that meant that Ella
must do whatever she's told. Literally. This becomes downright dangerous when
Ella's mother dies and her father marries nasty Dame Olga ( Joanna Lumley).
And it becomes downright deadly when an evil usurper orders Ella to commit
murder. Ella's journey to find a way to break the spell has its own dangers as
she meets up with elves, ogres, giants, fairies, and of course a very charming
prince ( Hugh
Dancy).
Tuesday
Movie Matinee 2:00 pm – “Cinderella”
G*
Charles Perrault's
classic fairy tale is lovingly and imaginatively brought to life in this
animated Disney version, also a classic. Cinderella, a sweet, docile, and
beautiful girl forced to act as a servant for her mean stepmother and
stepsisters, goes to the ball with the help of her fairy godmother. But her
godmother warns that the beautiful coach and gown will only last until
midnight. Cinderella meets the Prince at the ball, and they share a romantic
dance. But when the clock begins to strike midnight, she runs away, leaving
behind one of her glass slippers. The Prince declares he will marry the girl
whose foot fits that slipper. He finds her, and they live happily ever after
