May 16 through May 23, 2012

I’m working to get this posted early this week because my fabulous in-laws are coming for a nice long visit, and I want (need) to be ready. There is lots of housework, grocery shopping and general preparedness that needs to happen before Thursday. But, in the end we’ll have a really nice visit and I may even get a night out with my husband while they’re here because they offered to babysit! I’m not sure what we’ll do, but, I’m sure it will be fun.  It’s too bad the events listed below for “parent’s only” will not be happening while my in-laws are here… well, I know it will be nice to get out with my husband anyway.
I am trying to make this blog a bit more user-friendly.  The activities I found this week are listed below in a short list, and then have greater detail following.  I also have, as usual, some upcoming events, as well as the Summer Camps I have found.  If you have any suggestions to make this blog easier to use, please let me know.  I appreciate any feedback and am always looking for more events to add. Please send me an email or leave a message at the end of the blog. Thank you!

Beached Pirates Arrive in St. Joseph!
I'm not sure how I missed this one! The Pirates are scheduled to arrive today, at 5:30!

Landlubbers in downtown St. Joseph will encounter scallywags, buried treasure and denizens of the deep this summer! Don't miss the unveiling party on Friday night: Get free Abonmarche Artist Bucks (while supplies last) to spend at participating retailers downtown, meet the artists and enjoy live music...all on State St!
The exhibit will feature 27 sculptures including pirates, treasure chests, dolphins, seahorses, sea turtles and pelicans. Don't miss the pirate ship at the corner of Broad and State streets! The pieces are officially displayed May 19 through Oct. 1.
The exhibit is made possible by generous sponsors, including financial support from the St. Joseph Improvement Association. SJIA’s support, contributed from the beginning, allows the city to host an above-average and highly creative art display that draws thousands each year to the city’s shops, restaurants and beaches. “Mikey Walsh and Brandon Walsh are brothers whose family is preparing to move because developers want to build a golf course in the place of their neighborhood -- unless enough money is raised to stop the construction of the golf course, and that's quite doubtful. But when Mikey stumbles upon a treasure map of the famed "One-Eyed" Willy's hidden fortune, Mikey, Brandon, and their friends Lawrence "Chunk" Cohen, Clark "Mouth" Devereaux, Andrea "Andy" Carmichael, Stefanie "Stef" Steinbrenner, and Richard "Data" Wang, calling themselves The Goonies, set out on a quest to find the treasure in hopes of saving their neighborhood. The treasure is in a cavern, but the entrance to the cavern is under the house of evil thief Mama Fratelli and her sons Jake Fratelli, Francis Fratelli, and the severely disfigured Lotney "Sloth" Fratelli. Sloth befriends the Goonies and decides to help them.” From IMDB.com
